ORI History

The Organization of Racing Investigators (ORI) came about because of the need for racing investigators and law enforcement officers, concerned with regulating pari-mutuel racing, to meet periodically to exchange intelligence information and investigative methodology.

From the first meetings in 1991, hosted by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, to the last conference in 2007, hosted by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, ORI conference attendees have met to exchange ideas and information. Conference agendas have evolved to include training and presentations in areas of mutual interests (drug testing of animals and humans, simulcasting issues, video poker gaming, security problems, etc).

Intelligence sharing has included undercover operations, discussions about known multi-state violators who effect the integrity of racing and individual case presentations. Search and seizure problems and other legal issues to improve job proficiency have been a part of the curriculum presented.

ORI seeks to improve communications among its members via this website to exchange up-to-date racing related information and its membership directory.
